Four Indian students drowned in a river in Russia. The four students, all from India, were studying medicine at the Yaroslavl-the-Wise Novgorod State University in Russia. Four Indian students drowned while trying to save a friend on the banks of a river near St. Petersburg.

According to reports, one person drowned in the river. However, the students who went to help him drowned in the river. Three bodies have been recovered and search is on for the remaining three. All the students hail from Jalgaon district of Maharashtra.

The bodies will be brought to India soon. The local administration in Russia is being contacted by the authorities in Jalgaon. Talks are also being held with the Russian authorities through the Indian Embassy. A student was also injured in the incident. However, she was rescued and is undergoing treatment. Jalgaon District Collector Ayush Prasad confirmed the incident.

The deceased students have been identified as Harshal Desle, Zeeshan Pinjari and Jiya Pinjari. The students were studying at the Yaroslavl-the-Wise Novgorod State University in Russia. The incident took place on the evening of June 4 in a river near St. Petersburg. The Russian authorities and police have informed the Indian Embassy in Moscow about the incident. The student's death has plunged the family in sorrow. The bodies of the students are being brought to India.
