A businessman from Pune was drugged and robbed on a Mumbai-Pune journey.

The Matunga police in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut have arrested a man for allegedly robbing a businessman travelling in a Pune-Mumbai Shivneri bus by giving him sedatives from coffee.

The Matunga police in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut have arrested a man for allegedly robbing a businessman travelling in a Pune-Mumbai Shivneri bus by giving him sedatives from coffee. The businessman was unconscious for 80 hours due to the drug given by the accused. The accused had stolen jewellery worth Rs.70 lakh.

Yunus Shafiquddin Sheikh (52yrs) The accused has been arrested from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. Shailendra Sathe (57yrs) He has lodged a complaint at the Singhdwar Police station in Pune. The four accused have been booked for murder and criminal conspiracy. The police have recovered three gold chains from him.

Shailendra Sathe, who runs an advertising agency, was coming to Mumbai from Pune by Shivneri bus on June 14. Shaikh got acquainted with Sathe. After the bus stopped at Khalapur, Shaikh gave Sathe the drug from coffee. As soon as Sathe fainted, the accused took away the valuables from him and landed in Dadar area.

As soon as the bus stopped at Dadar stop, the staff brought the unconscious Sathe on the footpath. He stayed there for a really long time. Unable to contact him, his family members found him and rushed him to a private hospital in Thane. He was unconscious for 80 hours. After regaining consciousness, he lodged a complaint at the Matunga police station on June 20.

The police checked the CCTV cameras installed at Dadar, Mumbai Central and Khalapur. Two suspects have been identified. After committing the crime, Shaikh landed in Dadar and his accomplice in Chembur. The two then took a train from Mumbai Central to Delhi. After technical analysis, a police team rushed to Meerut to trace the accused.
