Bengaluru – A shocking incident unfolded in Bengaluru when a 25-year-old unemployed man, identified as Harish Sinha from Jharkhand, stabbed a bus conductor during a heated argument on a BMTC bus. The event, which took place near Whitefields, has drawn widespread attention after a video of the altercation began circulating on social media.
Sinha, a former BPO employee, was reportedly returning from a job interview that he did not pass. Standing near the bus door, he was approached by conductor Yogesh, who asked him to move aside to facilitate the flow of passengers boarding and alighting from the bus. This request led to a confrontation, with tensions escalating rapidly. In a fit of rage and frustration over his job search, Sinha produced a knife from his bag and attacked Yogesh, stabbing him.
The shocking act sent the other passengers into a panic, with many hastily deboarding the bus as Sinha brandished his weapon. Credit is due to bus driver Siddalinga swamy, who acted quickly to lock Sinha inside the bus, preventing further harm to the fleeing passengers. In an alarming turn of events, Sinha then pulled out a hammer, causing significant damage by breaking the windows of the vehicle. BMTC officials commended the driver for his quick thinking and decisive actions.
"We commend the swift and decisive actions of our driver, Siddalingaswamy, who locked the attacker inside the bus, ensuring the safety of all passengers," a BMTC statement read. They also acknowledged the cooperation of passengers who quickly alerted the police and emergency services. Yogesh was subsequently rushed to Vydehi Hospital, where he is now reported to be out of danger and receiving medical care. The police apprehended Sinha shortly after the incident.
According to their statement, the suspect expressed a desire to go to jail, indicating a deep sense of frustration regarding his prolonged unemployment. "He thought of going to jail for a living after doing such things," the police reported. This incident has raised concerns about mental health and the pressures faced by job seekers in the current economic climate, shedding light on the potential consequences of frustration when combined with a lack of support.
