Navi Mumbai, October 9, 2023 – In a much-anticipated move, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Maharashtra Bhavan is set to take place this Friday in Vashi, marking a significant milestone for the state. The event, which will be attended by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and various dignitaries, signifies the long-awaited commencement of a project that has been in the planning stages for nearly 15 years. The Maharashtra Bhavan will be constructed on an eight thousand square meter plot in Vashi Sector 30A, with an estimated expenditure of ₹121 crores.

The initiative is part of a broader vision to enhance the infrastructure of Navi Mumbai and to make it an accessible hub for the citizens of Maharashtra. Sanjay Shirsat, President of CIDCO, expressed optimism about the project, stating that “Maharashtra Bhavan will become a reality that embodies modern facilities and serves as a symbolic space for all citizens of the state.” The decision to build the Maharashtra Bhavan aligns with similar structures erected for various other states in the Dimakh area, demonstrating a commitment to equal representation for Maharashtra within the region.

The plot for the Maharashtra Bhavan had been reserved near Vashi railway station but faced delays for years. Local leaders, including MLA Manda Mhatre, have actively pursued the project, advocating for its importance and responding to public demand. Mhatre noted, “It is ecstatic that a beautiful structure is going to be created that everyone should be proud of.”

In addition to the Bhavan, CIDCO has plans for testing Sukhoi aircraft at the nearby golf course and the upcoming Navi Mumbai Airport, further enhancing the area’s reputation as a burgeoning center for trade and infrastructure. As the ceremony approaches, there is palpable excitement among the citizens of Maharashtra, who eagerly anticipate the realization of the Maharashtra Bhavan—a project they hope will serve as a landmark for the state and its people.
