Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat wins Spanish Grand Prix gold

Vinesh, who entered her Schengen visa at the last nanosecond on Wednesday, won three bouts without important difficulty to storm into the final.

Madrid In a perfect figure- up to the Paris Olympics, top Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat settled the women’s 50 kg gold order at the Grand Prix of Spain then on Saturday. The two- time World Championship citation quarterfinalist defeated Mariia Tiumerekova 10- 5 in the final to bag the gold. Mariia is a former Russian wrestler who's now contending as an Individual Neutral Athlete.

Vinesh, who entered her Schengen visa at the last nanosecond on Wednesday, won three bouts without important difficulty to storm into the final. The 29- time-old former Asian Games gold quarter finalist first beat Pan American champion Yusneylis Guzman of Cuba 12- 4 on points.

She also registered a palm by fall against Madison Parks of Canada, a table ware quarter finalist at the 2022 Common wealth Games in Birmingham, in the quarter finals. Vinesh beat another Canadian Katie Dutchak 9- 4 on points.
