A massive fire broke out at the Keshavrao Bhosale Theatre in Kolhapur on Thursday night. This has caused disquiet among art-loving Kolhapuris and the Marathi theatre industry. The fire spread quickly engulfed in entire theatre. It is reported that the fire broke out due to a short circuit in the theatre. But the fire in the theater is being mourned by the citizens as well as the artists.
According to the locals, a massive fire broke out near the generator of Keshavrao Bhosale theatre at around midnight on Thursday. The fire kept getting bigger. The fire started in the back of the theater. Fire personnel and police rushed to the spot on being informed about the incident.


More fire engines were called in to douse the fire. District Collector Amol Yedge, Municipal Commissioner Manjulakshmi and other officials rushed to the spot. Eight fire were rushed to douse the fire. A special firefighting team was called in. The fire personnel managed to douse the fire by evening.

The theatre suffered extensive damage in the fire. The audience gallery of the theater collapsed. The wood and other materials in the vicinity were gutted. All the furniture and electrical items were gutted in the fire.
The roof collapsed on the stage at the Khasbagh ground at the back of the theatre.
The fire raged through the night. The main stage of the theatre was completely destroyed.
