The Pune-Satara highway is in a state of disarray with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) levying hefty toll charges. 3 Khed Shivapur toll plaza was blocked by the Congress. The Congress party took a stand that the highway must be repaired, the Khed-Shivapur toll must be stopped, and the movement will continue until all the vehicles passing through the toll plaza are stopped.

In view of the pathetic condition of the Pune-Satara highway, the Congress party staged a protest at various toll plazas from Shindewadi to Kolhapur. The protest was led by Bhor MLA Sangram Thopte and Purandar MLA Sanjay Jagtap.


Khed Shivapur toll plaza today. A large crowd of workers had gathered by 3 a.m. At first, all the vehicles were abandoned after staging a protest at the toll plaza on the Satara side. The Congress workers then staged a sit-in at the main toll plaza.

MLA Sangram Thopte angrily asked if the road is not broken, then why take the toll, adding that no worker will leave until a written assurance is received.

Purandar MLA Sanjay Jagtap also said that he will continue to stand with the local people and demanded that the toll plaza should be closed. Many activists expressed their anger over the pathetic condition of the Pune-Satara highway.


MLA Thopte insisted that toll collection will have to be stopped until the road is repaired, even if a written assurance is given to repair the road. Due to this, the toll administration and the highway authority were in a dilemma, due to which the protest that started at 10 am continued till 2 pm. Meanwhile, the police had made elaborate security arrangements to maintain law and order.
