KTR’s Brother-in-Law Seeks Telangana High Court Protection Following Police Raid

TDN

Hyderabad — In a developing story, Raj Pakala, brother-in-law of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao, has approached the Telangana High Court seeking legal protection from what he describes as an unlawful arrest attempt by the Mokila police. This move comes in the wake of a recent police raid on his property in Janwada, where authorities reportedly seized foreign liquor and casino gaming equipment. Pakala's legal team filed the petition on Monday, asserting that the police intend to implicate him in a criminal case without sufficient grounds.

In his petition, Pakala claims the police's actions are unjustified and requests the court to prevent any arrest that may arise from the ongoing investigation. The Mokila police had issued notices to Pakala under Section 35(3) of the BNSS, requiring him to present himself for questioning along with relevant address proofs and evidence related to the case. However, Pakala's lawyers have requested a two-day extension to prepare for the investigation, indicating their client's intention to comply with the inquiry. The police notice warned that failure to attend the Mokila police station could lead to arrest under various sections of the BNSS.

Since Pakala was not present at the time of the notice, authorities reportedly affixed the notices to the villa where he was staying. The controversy began on October 26 when police executed a raid on Pakala's property, resulting in the seizure of 7.6 liters of foreign liquor, 8.1 liters of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), and 6 liters of beer. Additionally, drug tests were conducted on attendees at the event; notably, Vijay Madduri, CEO of Fusion AIX Software and an associate of Pakala, tested positive for cocaine. However, no illegal drugs were found at the venue. As the legal proceedings unfold, the outcome remains uncertain for Pakala, who is now seeking refuge in the High Court amidst this escalating situation. The Telangana High Court's response to his plea could have significant implications for both Pakala and the ongoing investigation by the Mokila police.
