Kevadia, Gujarat – In a remarkable display of cultural heritage and national pride, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the creation of a replica of the historic Raigad Fort at this year's National Unity Day celebrations in Kevadia, Gujarat. The announcement was made through a post on the social media platform X, highlighting the significance of this event, which takes place annually on October 31st to honor the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known as the Iron Man of India. National Unity Day serves as a reminder of Patel's pivotal role in unifying the states of India post-independence, a feat that laid the foundation for a cohesive nation.

The celebrations across the country include various cultural programs, seminars, and parades, culminating in the main event in Kevadia, where dignitaries and citizens gather to pay tribute to the legacy of unity. This year's theme centers around the Raigad Fort, a symbol of Maratha architecture and history. The replica constructed at the parade venue is not only a tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s extraordinary bravery and innovative warfare techniques but also serves as a reminder of Maharashtra's glorious past.

The fort, often referred to as the “king of castles,” is a revered site for Shiva devotees worldwide, attracting thousands of visitors each year. The central government has urged citizens to visit the replica in large numbers, emphasizing its cultural and historical significance. "Raigad Fort is a masterpiece of Maratha architecture and a holy site for many. We encourage everyone to come and experience this unique representation of our heritage," the post stated. As the nation prepares to celebrate National Unity Day, the focus remains on fostering a sense of unity and pride among its citizens, reinforcing the principles that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel championed throughout his life. This year’s theme not only highlights the importance of Raigad Fort but also reinforces the ongoing commitment to preserving and celebrating India’s rich cultural tapestry.
