In a significant political development, Nayab Singh Saini has been elected as the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) legislature party in Haryana. The decision was made during a meeting of the newly elected Haryana BJP MLAs, which saw the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav as central observers. Saini’s candidacy was put forward by MLAs Krishan Kumar Bedi and Anil Vij, leading to his unanimous election. The announcement was confirmed by Union Home Minister Shah, indicating strong party support for Saini's leadership.

Saini, who previously served as the chief ministerial face for the BJP in the recent state assembly elections, succeeded Manohar Lal Khattar as the chief minister of Haryana earlier this March. The BJP has celebrated a notable victory in the assembly polls held on October 8, securing a third consecutive term by winning 48 seats, while the Congress party managed to secure 37 seats in the 90-member assembly.

The oath-taking ceremony for Nayab Singh Saini is scheduled to take place on Thursday, with an impressive guest list that includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, showcasing the central leadership's backing for the newly elected leader. As Haryana enters a new chapter under Saini’s leadership, party supporters are optimistic about continued governance and development in the region.
