TDN

Jammu – In a dramatic escalation of tensions, a terrorist was neutralized in an anti-terror operation conducted by special commandos in Jammu on Monday. The incident began early in the morning when terrorists opened fire on an army convoy in the Akhnoor division, sparking immediate and robust retaliation from security forces. Fortunately, no casualties were reported among the army personnel during the attack, which occurred around 6:30 AM. Initial assessments indicated that three terrorists had infiltrated the region, prompting an extensive operation by special commandos that lasted into the night. According to the Army's Jammu-based 'White Knight Corps', the operation led to the death of one terrorist, and substantial weaponry was recovered from the suspect.

The aggressive exchange began when terrorists targeted an army ambulance, with most of the gunfire directed at the vehicle. Faced with the imminent threat of a strong counterattack from the army, the attackers fled into the adjacent forested area. In response to the assault, the special commandos of the army, alongside National Security Force (NSG) operatives, initiated a coordinated anti-terror operation. Gunfire and explosions echoed throughout the area until approximately 3:00 PM, as helicopters provided aerial surveillance to assist the ground troops.

The confrontation took place near the Asan Sundarbani area, where security forces swiftly deployed 'BMP-2' combat vehicles, known as APC 'Sarath', to bolster their presence. The area was quickly cordoned off, and a joint search operation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police commenced to track down the remaining terrorists. A statement from the 'White Knight Corps' emphasized that the attempted attack was foiled due to the rapid and effective response from army personnel. As the situation continues to develop, security forces remain vigilant, determined to safeguard the region from further threats.
