PM reviews security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Prime Minister also spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to review the security situation in Kashmir.

New Delhi Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting on Thursday in the wake of terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir in the last four days. While reviewing the security situation in the state, he directed the agencies to apply the anti-terror measures to the fullest extent. The meeting was attended by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and other elderly officers. The Prime Minister also spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to review the security situation in Kashmir.

Sources said the deployment of security forces as well as counter-terrorism measures were bandied in the meeting. The Prime Minister also spoke to Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and took stock of the situation. Sinha briefed about the security measures taken by the original administration. The Prime Minister was briefed on security situation. In the last four days, terrorists have carried out four attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.

Nine Vaishno Devi pilgrims were killed when the machine they were travelling in fell into a couloir in Raisi quarter. After this, terrorist attacks also took place in Kathua and Doda sections. One person was killed and 9 others were injured. The security forces have killed two suspected Pakistani terrorists in an hassle in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua. National Security Advisor(NSA) Ajit Doval has been appointed as India's top spymaster.

The movables Committee of the Cabinet approved his appointment on Thursday. He's the first person to hold the post three times. After Modi came the Prime Minister for the first time, he handed over this important post to Doval in May 2014. For the third time in a row, 2019 and 2024, he'll have the important responsibility of advising the Cabinet on public security. Doval holds the rank of a press minister.

Doval, a 1968- batch officer of the Indian Police Service, is considered an expert incounter-terrorism measures. Doval brings with him 33 times of experience of working in the North East, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. He's also said to have been observing for the country in Pakistan for six times.
