Pune: BMC takes action against encroachers in Lohianagar

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has taken action against illegal constructions in the Lohianagar area.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has taken action against illegal constructions in the Lohianagar area. The action was taken by the municipal administration between 12:00 noon and 4:00 pm on Wednesday. Large number of policemen was deployed on the occasion. The police have asked the municipal corporation to take action against the encroachers.

In and around Lohianagar, illegal constructions and benches in the chowk-chowk as well as unauthorized kattas and ottas were erected by some miscreants in the evening in such a way as to cause inconvenience to the citizens and women passing by. Also, there was a possibility of a tense situation if some communal or religious dispute broke out between these anti-socials.

It was necessary to remove the place of standing and sitting from the socialists. Khadak police station's senior inspector Vishwajeet Kaingade and police inspector Santosh Khetmagal contacted the municipal officials and demanded action. Accordingly, action was taken on the encroachment between Lohiyanagar police post and Lohiyanagar command.

In this operation, handcarts, counters, shed-huts, dilapidated rickshaws, concrete slabs were broken with the help of guards. The iron rods were cut using gas cutters.

Manishi Chandra, Govind Sharma, Inspector Vinay Kumar, Inspector Sanjay Gupta, Inspector Rajesh Kumar, Inspector Kailash Singh Bisht, and Dharmendra Kumar, Inspector Ravinder Joshi and Vinod Badola, ASI Shiv Yadav, SI Ajaibeer Singh, SI Devender Singh, (SI) Banay Singh and Late Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma (posthumously) have been awarded president's police medal for gallantry.

On behalf of the Municipal Corporation, Regional Encroachment Inspector Ganesh Taru, Rajendra Londhe, Assistant Encroachment Inspector Rathod, Khairnar, 20 Bigari Sevaks, 6 Maharashtra Security Force, 4 tempos were present.
