Pune crime news : Shocking! Pune Police Sub-Inspector Joins Gang of Honeytraps

A Pune police sub-inspector has been arrested for allegedly being part of a gang that honey-trapped and robbed an elderly man. A case at the Vishrambaugh Police Station. However, the accused absconded after the case was filed.

A case has been registered against Sub-Inspector Kashinath Maruti and PSI Kashinath Ubhe (55).


Avantika Sachin Sonawane Avantika Sachin Sonwane (35), Poonam Sanjay Patil, Poonam Sanjay Patil (40), Arti Sanjay Gaikwad, Arti Sanjay Gaikwad (58), Tighi Ra. Kothrud was arrested. A case has been registered against Poonam Patil at Shahupuri police station for allegedly demanding Rs 50 lakh as extortion money from a doctor.

The gang is suspected to have duped many people. Investigation is underway on it. The woman lured an elderly man from Kothrud area and took him to a hotel. The elderly woman was then beaten up by the police and members of the Women's Rights Commission.

They demanded a ransom of Rs five lakh by threatening to file a false case of rape. A mobile phone worth Rs. 20 lakh was seized from him. The incident took place on July 29 at a hotel on Laxmi Road. Four persons, including three women, have been arrested in this connection.


Inspector General of Police (IGP) Manoj Kumar has launched a probe into the incident.
The woman had given her Aadhaar card at a hotel on Laxmi Road in Pune.
Avantika Sonawane, Aarti Gaikwad and Poonam Patil have been arrested.
The vehicle was found in a CCTV footage. The car was found to be in the name of one of the occupants.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the car was being used by police sub-inspector Kashinath.
It has been revealed that he was involved in the conspiracy.
Investigations have revealed that a member of the Women's Rights Commission was standing with the women who entered the hotel room.
