Kalyan-Dombivli, Maharashtra– In a worrying trend for local residents, two separate incidents in Kalyan-Dombivli resulted in serious injuries to a young school student and a pedestrian, highlighting the increasing threat posed by speeding vehicles in the area. On Saturday afternoon, 16-year-old Gargi Mohan Suryavanshi was struck by a speeding car as she walked home from school. The incident occurred around 12:30 PM near Shivaji Maharaj Chowk, just before the Bombay Dyeing shop. Witnesses reported that Gargi was caught off guard by the vehicle, which knocked her to the ground, causing serious damage to her left leg.

Shockingly, instead of stopping to help, the driver fled the scene. Bystanders attempted to chase after the vehicle, but it had already sped away. Gargi later recounted her harrowing experience to her family, prompting her parents to file a formal complaint at the Mahatma Phule police station. The police are actively searching for the driver using the vehicle's registration number. In a separate incident on Monday night, 36-year-old Aniket Deshmukh, a resident of the Nilje Lodha Palawa area, was involved in a collision while riding his two-wheeler.

Deshmukh was turning from Shilpata road to Lodha Palawa area near Xperia Mall when a car traveling towards Kalyan struck his bike at high speed. The impact resulted in Deshmukh suffering serious injuries to his right leg. He has since lodged a complaint at the Manpada police station regarding the incident. These incidents have raised significant alarm among the local community, as residents report an increase in reckless driving and speeding behavior on the roads of Kalyan-Dombivli in recent months.

Citizens are now calling for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and heightened awareness initiatives to curb the escalating issue of road safety. As investigations continue, both victims and their families are left grappling with the aftermath of these troubling incidents, further emphasizing the urgent need for measures to protect pedestrians and cyclists in the area.
