Hyderabad, Telangana – The Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) recently conducted the Group 1 mains examination, and statistical data reveals that only 67.17% of the candidates participated in the seven papers. Out of the 31,383 candidates who qualified for the mains exam, 21,093 appeared for all papers, reflecting a significant turnout despite prior unrest. Malkajgiri district topped the list with 17,779 candidates qualifying for the mains exam, of which 10,869 appeared for every paper. Rangareddy district followed closely behind, with 8,011 candidates qualifying and 5,505 participating in the full set of exams. From Hyderabad, 5,613 candidates qualified, with 4,719 making it to the examination hall.

The exams faced considerable opposition as many aspirants protested just a week prior, demanding a postponement until the Telangana High Court could rule on their pleas against Government Order (GO) 29, which altered existing reservation rules. The protests garnered support from various political parties, including the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Despite the protests and appeals, the Supreme Court rejected the request for a postponement, allowing the TGPSC to proceed with the examination process aimed at filling 563 Group 1 vacancies across various state government departments. As candidates await the results, the tension surrounding the Group 1 mains exam underscores the ongoing challenges faced by aspirants in navigating the complexities of government recruitment processes in Telangana.
