Novak Djokovic's dream run in tennis has come to an end. He won the Olympic gold medal for the first time in his career. Djokovic made history on Sunday by defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the men's singles final at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The 37-year-old Serbian defeated Alcaraz 7-6 (3) 7-6 (2). Djokovic is the oldest tennis player to win an Olympic gold medal since 1988.
Djokovic, who has won 24 Grand Slam titles, has long been waiting for an Olympic medal. He defeated Italy's Lorenzo Musetti to reach his first Olympic final. Djokovic has lost in the semifinals of the last three Olympics. Djokovic has also taken revenge on Alcaraz at Wimbledon. Djokovic and Alcaraz also faced off in the Wimbledon title match, in which the Serbian player was defeated.

By defeating Alcaraz in the final, Novak Djokovic is the oldest player to win a singles gold medal in tennis since 1908. Djokovic also holds the record for the most number of weeks at number one.
