Trekkers Rescued Amidst Army Operation Against Terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir

TDN

Jammu and Kashmir – A tense situation unfolded in the Jabarwan Hills when a group of trekkers found themselves caught in the crossfire during an army operation targeting terrorists. Fortunately, thanks to their quick thinking and prompt action by local authorities, all trekkers were safely rescued without any harm. The incident highlights the escalating violence in Jammu and Kashmir, where recent months have seen a surge in terrorist attacks, including the kidnapping of two Indian soldiers and a tragic incident resulting in the deaths of seven migrant workers. In response, security forces have intensified operations to neutralize the terrorist threat in the region. On Sunday, as an encounter between the army and terrorists intensified, some trekkers became stranded in the area.

Realizing their precarious situation, they dialed the emergency number 100 to alert the police about the gunfire they were hearing. Their timely call initiated a swift rescue operation. A senior police officer revealed to the Indian Express, "The operation had started, and as soon as the trekkers heard the initial firing, they called the police on 100. The control room promptly informed the local police, and the army was alerted. They halted firing temporarily to ensure the trekkers' safe extraction." In light of this incident, Jammu and Kashmir Police have issued a warning to trekkers, urging them to inform local authorities before embarking on treks in forested or potentially dangerous areas. This precaution could prove vital in preventing similar incidents in the future. Authorities are relieved that the trekkers were rescued without injury, but the situation serves as a reminder of the risks faced by adventurers in regions affected by conflict. As the operations against terrorism continue, the safety of both residents and visitors remains a top priority for law enforcement and military personnel in Jammu and Kashmir.
