The deceased has been identified as Shashwat Ram Bogade (15yrs), a resident of Kumar Kruti Society, Kalyan Nagar, Yerawada. The driver of the car, identified as Ravikant Ramdin Gaur (37yrs), was arrested by the Yerawada police. The incident took place on Saturday. The incident took place in front of Mary Gold Society in Kalyani Nagar at around 8.30 am.

According to Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke, the MLC, who reached Sahyadri Hospital, Yerawada, on Saturday morning, was going to school on a bicycle from Mary Gold Society in Kalyani Nagar at around 8.30 am today. At that time, a speeding Hyundai (MH 12 UC 8029) car hit Shashwat's bike from behind. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
The police have arrested the driver of the car, Rajendran.

The accused has been sent for medical examination along with assistant police inspector Lamkhade. It is reported that the driver was not drunk. The driver has been arrested. CCTV footage of the incident spot is being checked. Ravindra Shelke said that a case will be registered after taking the statement of the father of the deceased child.
