TDN

A serious accident occurred early Thursday morning when a private bus fell into a 20-foot ditch on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The incident took place near Khopoli around 3 AM, injuring 11 passengers who were quickly taken to Khopoli Municipal Hospital for treatment.

The bus was traveling from Sangola to Mumbai when it was struck from behind by a chicken transporter. This collision caused the bus driver to lose control, leading to the bus breaking through a barrier and plunging into the ditch.

Emergency services, including police and IRB teams, responded promptly to the scene. They worked to rescue the injured passengers and ensure they received medical attention. Preliminary investigations suggest that brake failure of the chicken transporter may have contributed to the accident. The Khopoli Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.
