Both the bowlers and batsmen delivered strong performances for India in the final. Following India's historic win, the ICC allocated prize money to the teams. At the outset of T20 World Cup 2024, the ICC announced a total prize pool of approximately Rs 93.5 crores.
The Indian team, led by Rohit Sharma, received Rs 20.36 crores for their triumph, while the runner-up South African team was awarded Rs 10.64 crores. Additionally, the semi-final losing teams each received Rs 6.55 crores, and the Super 8 teams received Rs 3.18 crores.
Teams finishing in the third position during the group stage received Rs 2.06 crores. Furthermore, teams were granted Rs 25.9 lakh for every match won up to the Super 8 stage. India won six consecutive matches until the Super 8, earning Rs 1.55 crore per victory, whereas South Africa, having won seven matches by the Super Eight stage, received Rs 1.81 crore per win.
The breakdown of the T20 World Cup 2024 prize money is as follows: Winner – Rs 20.36 Crores, Runners-up – Rs 10.64 crores, Semi-final losers – Rs 6.55 crores, Super 8 teams – Rs 3.18 crores, 9th to 12th ranked teams – Rs 2.06 crores, Teams ranked 13th to 20th – Rs 1.87 crore, and a bonus of Rs 26 lakh for each match-winning team.
