The student, Shri Belem Atchyuth from Andhra Pradesh, was studying at The State University of New York (SUNY) and the accident occurred on Wednesday evening. The Consulate General of India expressed their condolences for the student's death in a post on X, stating.
"We are saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Shri Belem Atchyuth, a SUNY student who was involved in a bike accident and passed away yesterday evening." They mentioned that they are in contact with the student's family and local authorities to provide support, including arrangements to repatriate his remains to India.
