Trump's legal team sought to indefinitely postpone the New York trial until the resolution of his immunity claim in his Washington, D.C., election interference case. They argued that certain evidence, such as Trump's social media posts about his former lawyer Michael Cohen, should be excluded from the trial due to immunity protections.
The Supreme Court is set to hear arguments on April 25th, just over a week after the start of jury selection in the hush money case. Trump's lawyer, Todd Blanche, declined to comment, as did the Manhattan district attorney's office. Trump initially raised the immunity issue in his Washington criminal case, which involves charges of attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
