Nepal Rs.100 Note : Nepal on Friday announced the printing of a new Rs100 note with a map showing the disputed territories of Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani. India has already termed these areas as “ artificial enlargement” and “untenable”. "In a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Pushkamal Dahal alias Prachanda, it was decided to print a new map of Nepal including Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani in Rs.100 notes," said government spokesperson Rekha Sharma.

Informing the cabinet decision, she said," In the cabinet meeting held on April 25 and May 2, the cabinet has approved the redesign of the Rs.100 note and the replacement of the old map published on the back of the note. "Rekha Sharma is also the Minister of Information and Public Relations. On 18 June 2020, Nepal completed the process of streamlining the political map of the country.

Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura, three strategically important areas were amended in our constitution. Still, India reacted explosively to this. India called the move a "unilateral act" and termed it an "artificial enlargement" of Nepal's territorial claims and "untenable". India is in possession of Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura. Nepal shares further than 1,850 km of border with five Indian states of Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. What exactly is the case?

India has built a road up to Lipulekh Pass. A verbal battle is currently going on between India and Nepal over that. The 80 km route from Ghatiabagh to Lipulekh in Uttarakhand was started on May 8, 2020. This route is near the trijunction where the borders of three countries India, Nepal and China meet. The Lipulekh Pass route will save time for Indian pilgrims going to Kailash Mansarovar.

Due to this, the former Prime Minister of Nepal K.P. Oli warned that Kalapani-Limpiyadhura-Lipulek regions will be brought back to the map of Nepal in any case. Since also, the dispute has been going on between these two countries. What's Kalapani region for sure? Kalapani is a 35 sq. km area in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. India has deployed Indo- Tibetan Border Police personnel in this area. Uttarakhand and Nepal share a border of a little over 80 km.

While Uttarakhand and China share a 344 km long border. Kali river originates in Kalapani area. India has shown this river in its map. After the war between India and China in 1962, the Indian Army set up a post in Kalapani. Before 1962, Nepal claims to have conducted a census in this area. Nepal has also said that India hadn't registered any objection at that time. Nepal has also contended that India has violated the Sugauli Agreement regarding Kalapani.
