Russian Su-57 Fighter Jet Destroyed in Ukraine Conflict Escalation.

Anjali

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has been ongoing since February 2022. Recently, Kiev's defense intelligence agency reported the destruction of a Russian Su-57 fighter jet within Russia. The targeted jet was stationed at Akhtubinsk Airfield, approximately 589 km (366 miles) away from the conflict zone.

The attack was confirmed by a Russian military blogger, who indicated that the jet sustained damage and its repairability is under assessment. This incident marks a significant development in the escalating hostilities between the two nations. The Russia-Ukraine war commenced on the night of February 23, 2022, when Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation against Ukraine.

Subsequently, air strikes hit Kyiv and surrounding areas on February 24, prompting global attention and reactions. The conflict has divided the international community, with NATO members supporting Ukraine and other nations like China and Iran aligning with Russia. Amid these dynamics, India has maintained a neutral stance, as articulated by Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar's commitment to ending the ongoing war.
