Pune : The Maharashtra government has approved the payment of arrears to 21 collaborative sugar manufactories. The decision was taken ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha choices. The state also recommended the NCDC for the loan. Now the National Cooperative Development Corporation will give loans. The quantum of the loan has not yet been determined (Sugar Mills In Maharashtra) Of the 21manufactories that have defaulted,15 belong to the ruling party.
The other six manufactories include 2 possessed by Sharad Pawar, 1 by the Congress, 2 by independents and 1 with no political cooperation. Among the 15 manufactories of the ruling group, 2 are related to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, 5 to Ajit Pawar, and the plant of former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan.
