In Bengaluru, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is taking action against unauthorized sewage connections. They have inspected 17,793 locations and fined 2,137 consumers for illegally discharging sewage into BWSSB pipelines. BWSSB Chairman Ramprasat Manohar V warned citizens about the health risks and urged them to legalize any illegal connections.

Manohar emphasized that illegal sewage inflow strains the pipelines, especially in summer, leading to potential over flows and health risks. The crackdown aims to prevent diseases and maintain city cleanliness. Among the identified connections, 587 belong to apartment complexes. BWSSB has issued demand notices for 149 connections and regular notices for 1,390 others. In April, Manohar instructed officials to promptly identify and address such unauthorized connections.
