Navi Mumbai : There were 514 dangerous buildings in the Navi Mumbai external area last year. This year the number has increased to 535 and a survey has been conducted for the year 2024-25 of dangerous buildings in the jurisdiction of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. After the survey, a total of 535 buildings have been declared as dangerous buildings under Section 264 of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act.
As per section 265(a) of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, it's obligatory to get structural inspection of the buildings which have been in use for further than 30 years before 30 September 2024 by a structural engineer registered with the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. A fine of Rs25,000 will be assessed on the citizens of Navi Mumbai city if they don't submit the structural report of the dangerous buildings before September 30, the notification transferred by the external corporation stated.
According to the external survey, there are 535 dangerous buildings in the megacity.
