In the sixth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission of India reported a voter turnout of 63.37 percent, with 7.05 crore out of 11.13 crore eligible voters casting their votes across 58 seats in eight states on May 25. Across the first six phases, 57.77 crore out of 87.54 crore voters participated in the elections. The voter turnout for the sixth phase of the 2019 general elections, which covered 59 seats in seven states, was 64.4 percent.
The fifth phase of polling on May 20 saw a voting percentage of 62.2, while the fourth phase recorded a turnout of 69.16 percent, reflecting a 3.65 percent increase compared to the corresponding phase in the 2019 general elections. In the third phase, the voter turnout was 65.68 percent, slightly lower than the 68.4 percent recorded during the 2019 elections. The second phase saw a voting percentage of 66.71, and in the first phase, the voter turnout was 66.14 percent.
For the second consecutive time in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections, the number of female voters exceeded male voters by 3 percent, as highlighted by data from the Election Commission. Female voter turnout was higher than male voter turnout in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh, with 61.95 percent of eligible male voters and 64.95 percent of eligible female voters participating in the sixth phase.
