One of the indicted attacked the victim with a knife, injuring him seriously. The indicted had set the train on fire between Titwala and Khadwali railway stations. They hovered the other passengers to throw them out of the compartment at knife point. As soon as the passengers reached the Khadwali railway station, they caught hold of the two indicted and handed them over to the railway security personnel. Two others managed to escape. The police have linked the indicted with the help of CCTV footage. The increase in the number of people travelling in the original train from Kalyan to Kasara and Karjat during the night has raised concerns about the safety of passengers.
