Dr. R. Bindu, Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice, has ordered authorities to investigate promptly the case of a son abandoning his father in Tripunithura and provide a report. This directive comes in response to media coverage of the incident. The Minister has assigned the Kochi Sub-Collector, who also acts as the presiding officer of the Maintenance Tribunal, to enforce the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 against the son.
Furthermore, the Minister has directed the Director of the Social Justice Department and the Ernakulam District Social Justice Officer to conduct an immediate inquiry into the matter and deliver their findings.
