The Democracy News : Ajit Doval, the former intelligence chief, has been named the third National Security Advisor by the Government of India. Having served as the longest-standing National Security Advisor, Doval holds a significant position in the country. He previously held the same role in 2014 and 2019. As per the official announcement from the Government of India, Ajit Doval's appointment as the National Security Advisor of India is effective starting June 10.
The appointment specifies that Doval will continue in this role until Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains in office or until further notice. Additionally, Pramod Kumar Mishra has been designated as the Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister. Ajit Doval, a 1968 batch IPS officer, is renowned for being the first police officer to receive the Kirti Chakra award from the Army.
After retiring as the Intelligence Bureau chief in 2005, Doval's exceptional service in the intelligence sector has been widely recognized. Notably, he played a pivotal role in negotiating with hijackers during the IC 814 Indian Airlines hijacking in Kandahar in 1999. Further more, Doval's involvement in Operation Blue Star, a counter-operation against Khalistani terrorists in 1984, showcased his dedication.
Undercover as a rickshaw puller, he infiltrated the Golden Temple and contributed significantly to the planning and execution of the surgical strike post the Uri attack.
