Badlapur: Students of a school in Badlapur, Uttar Pradesh, staged a protest against the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl. However, the police have registered a case against the protestors. The Ulhasnagar court has granted bail to the accused. This gave the media a breather.
The police in Badlapur East police station have been accused of delaying the filing of a case in connection with the rape of minor girls in a school in Badlapur East and handling the case irresponsibly. Subsequently, senior police officials were suspended. Parents and students staged a protest in front of the school and at the police station. Around 1,200 to 1,500 people were accused in the three cases. Journalists covering the protests were also among the accused in the case. The police had also issued a notice to local media reporter Shraddha Thombare, who had been covering the case from day one, to appear at the crime branch office of Bhiwandi unit two. A representative of another national news channel was also included in the accused.
Advocate Priyesh Jadhav said that the media representatives were accused of instigating the protesters during the protest. But it was a people's movement. The protesters were accompanied by police personnel during the rally. Hence, action was taken against them, he said. Jadhav said. After we presented our side before the court, Shraddha Thombare was granted bail. Jadhav said. Some of the protesters, including Thombare, have also been granted bail. Questions are also being raised on the police's role in the matter.
