Recently, two minor girls were sexually abused at a school in Badlapur. A school cleaner has been arrested in connection with the incident. The accused has been remanded in police custody till August 24. Badlapurkar had taken to the streets on Tuesday (August 20) demanding capital punishment for the accused. The Badlapurkars had blocked local services and mail-express traffic for 10 hours. The police dispersed the mob and the Mumbai local train services resumed. Meanwhile, the police have launched a massive crackdown on the protesters.
The police have so far arrested 40 protesters. More than 300 protesters were arrested. The accused will be produced before the court on Wednesday (August 21).
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MSCPCR) has taken cognizance of the matter. Why was the school not informed about the accused before hiring him? He raised this question also.

Susieben Shah, chairperson of the Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, told The Indian Express, "The incident of sexual abuse of minor girls in a school in Badlapur is extremely heinous and shameful. This is a failure of the school system. The school did not comment on the incident. The police took 12 hours to register the FIR. The medical examination of the girl took 10 hours. The girls were kept in the maternity ward of the hospital. They were refused entry.
