Mumbai: A Bangladeshi national, who was travelling to Saudi Arabia on a passport from Pune, has been arrested by the immigration department officials. The accused had come to India illegally from Bangladesh 13 years ago. He had travelled to Saudi Arabia twice on an Indian passport. Osman Kiramat Siddiqui alias Mohammed Osman Kiramat Ali Biswas was arrested at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. A case has been registered against the accused under the Arms Act and the POCSO Act.


Mohammad Osman had recently arrived at the international airport. He wanted to go to Saudi Arabia. After checking his passport, it was found that he was born in Kolkata and his passport was issued in Pune. Immigration officials suspected that he was a Bangladeshi national. The police took him into custody for questioning. During interrogation, he confessed that he is a Bangladeshi national. He came to India from Bangladesh 13 years ago with his uncle Badshah. After working as a labourer in Kolkata for two years, he settled permanently in Pune. Since then, he was living in Mill No. 392 in front of the Marathi School in Wakad. He had obtained an Indian passport in the name of Usman Kirmat Siddiqui from Pune in 2014 by forging documents. On this passport, he went to Saudi Arabia for work in June 2016.
He returned to Saudi Arabia in April 2023, seven months after his arrival in India in September 2022. He returned to India in March. He wanted to go back to Saudi Arabia. He arrived at the airport on Saturday night. However, he was handed over to the police for further investigation. On the complaint of immigration officer Bharat Dinkar Chindge, the police had registered a case against Mohammed Osman for travelling between India and Saudi Arabia with a fake Indian passport. The police later arrested him on the same charge. The accused is currently in police custody. Police suspect that the accused is a regular visitor to Bangladesh. Police are investigating further in this regard. It is also being investigated who helped the accused in making the passport.
