We're all the same
Since the fall of Sheikh Hasina's Awami League government on August 5, minority Hindus in Bangladesh have faced more than 200 attacks in 50 districts. As the police system collapsed, many lost their lives in attacks on Hindu families, institutions and temples. The head of Bangladesh's caretaker government, Muhammad Yunus, visited the Dhakeshwari temple in Dhaka on Tuesday and assured Hindu community leaders that "we are all one" and "justice will be served to all."

The proportion of Hindu population varies across the eight divisions of Bangladesh. Mymensingh has only 3.94% Hindus while the same proportion is 13.51% in Sylhet. In four of Bangladesh's 64 districts, every fifth person is a Hindu. Some of the important divisions are Gopalganj in Dhaka Division (26.94% of the district's population are Hindus), Moulvibazar in Sylhet Division (24.44% are Hindus), Thakurgaon in Rangpur Division (22.11% are Hindus) and Khulna in Khulna Division (20.75% are Hindus). As per the 2022 census, the Hindu population was more than 15% in 13 districts and more than 10% in 21 districts.
