The BJP is trying to polarise the list. However, after the announcement of the first list, many BJP leaders and office bearers have left the party and some have resigned from their posts. So, there is a discussion in the political circles whether the BJP is trying to achieve a caste equation or not.
In the first list of 67 candidates, the BJP has given tickets to 13 Jat candidates. They are Kamlesh Dhanda, Mahipal Dhanda and Devendra Babli. Dalal, Sunil Sangwan, Shruti Chaudhary, Deepak Hooda, Manju Hooda, O. P. Dhankar, Captain Abhimanyu, Anil Dhyani, Sanjay Kablana and Ummed Patuwas.
Farmers have been protesting in Punjab and Haryana for the past several days. Majority of the population in these localities are farmers. Apart from this, the Jat community has distanced itself from the BJP despite the movement of wrestlers. Therefore, this decision of the BJP is being seen as an attempt to attract the Jat community.
Apart from the Jat community, the BJP has also fielded candidates from 16 OBC communities. The OBC community has supported the BJP in the last 10 years. However, the OBC community is also moving away from the BJP. In this election, the BJP lost power to the Congress in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. The party's state OBC Morcha president Karandev Kamboj also resigned from his post as his name did not figure in the first list. The BJP is also likely to field him.
In the first list, the BJP has named 13 Dalits, nine Brahmins, eight Punjabis, five Vaishyas, two Rajputs and one Sikh. BJP leaders from the Baniya and Jain communities are reportedly upset with the first list. Savitri Jindal, the mother of industrialist-turned-politician Naveen Jindal, has announced that she will contest from Hisar.
He also praised Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Former minister Kavita Jain, who was denied a ticket from Sonipat, and BJP leader Tarun Jain, who was denied a ticket from Hisar, resigned from the party. Dalit leaders in the BJP are also upset. BJP MLA Laxman Napa, who was denied ticket from Ratia (SC-Reserved) constituency, has joined the Congress. The BJP has fielded Sirsa MP Sunita Duggal from Ratia.
Significantly, the disgruntled BJP leaders also include ministers. Haryana Power Minister Ranjit Chautala has also resigned from the party. The BJP has fielded Mukesh Sharma from Gurgaon.
