Sunita Williams from NASA.
Astronaut Sunita Williams and her colleague Butch Wilmore have been stranded in space for the past three months. Along with NASA, America is also waiting for both of them to come to Earth. The Indian Express reported that the Boeing Starliner carrying Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore returned to Earth without them.
According to NASA, Boeing's Starliner landed at White Sands Space Harbor in New Mexico on September 7. However, the spacecraft returned to Earth without Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore. Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams will remain aboard the space station for the next few months. The Starliner entered the Earth's atmosphere at 9.15 am. It had a top speed of 2,735 kmph. Three minutes before landing, the spacecraft's two parachutes opened and landed safely on Earth.
Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore flew into space on June 5 for an eight-day mission. However, due to some technical difficulties, Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore will have to stay on the space station for the next few months. Boeing's Starliner returns to Earth without crew due to technical problems. Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore are expected to return to Earth in February. It will return to Earth in 8 days. However, the failure of the vehicle's thruster and a helium leak extended his stay on the space station. NASA then decided that it would be dangerous to bring them back from Starliner. SpaceX is expected to launch them in February.
When will the astronauts return to Earth?
"We're looking at other options to bring back Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore," Steve Stich, director of the Commercial Crew Program, said in a statement. According to the current plan, the two astronauts will return to Earth in early 2025. We have also partnered with SpaceX on this project. NASA has launched the Crew 9 mission. Under this mission, NASA's spacecraft will fly in space. With this spacecraft, both astronauts will be able to return to Earth. The two astronauts will return to Earth in 2025.
