Hyderabad : The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission (EC) against former Telangana Governor and BJP leader Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan for allegedly distributing replicas of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir at the MLA Colony, Secunderabad on Wednesday, May 8.

The BRS claimed in its complaint that Soundararajan's distribution of the replicas constitutes a deliberate violation of section 188 of IPC and the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). According to the complaint, Soundararajan intentionally defied the directive to refrain from promoting the party on religious grounds and distributed the replicas of the Ram Mandir temple to the general public in MLA colony of Hyderabad for the political benefit of the BJP party and the candidate contesting from Secunderabad Constituency.

This action is alleged to be in contravention of the prevailing laws (MCC) and is seen as potentially inciting public unrest and communal discord. The complaint states that Soundararajan has committed an offense as defined in this section. Soundararajan is the BJP candidate for the Chennai South Lok Sabha constituency in the recently concluded LS polls in Tamil Nadu.

The state BJP has enlisted the former Governor to campaign in the state and engage with Tamil-speaking individuals, as stated by BJP general secretary G.Premender Reddy in a recent announcement. Telangana is set to vote on May 13, as per the schedule released by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
