The nomination process is currently underway in Uttar Pradesh for the seventh phase of Lok Sabha elections. Candidates are filing their nominations in the constituencies where voting will take place during this phase. During the nomination process, some surprising incidents have emerged, such as the case of Satyendra Kumar Maurya, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate for the Chandauli Lok Sabha seat, who attempted to file his nomination with a pistol on his waist.

However, he was stopped by the police outside the nomination venue but later allowed to enter without the weapon after showing his arms license. Maurya explained that he had brought the pistol in a rush. The Lok Sabha elections for the Chandauli constituency are scheduled for the seventh phase, and the nomination process is currently on going.

Satyendra Kumar Maurya has been nominated as the BSP candidate for the Chandauli Lok Sabha seat. He, along with his supporters, arrived at the nomination site at the Chandauli Collectorate complex on May 8th around 2:45 pm to file his nomination. Police were conducting thorough checks on all individuals entering or exiting the nomination site, including candidates.

When questioned by the media about the pistol, Maurya stated that he possessed a valid license for the weapon and had hastily brought it due to the imminent deadline for filing nominations. Additional SP Vinay Kumar Singh mentioned that Maurya's residency in Varanasi would be discussed with the Varanasi Police regarding the permission to carry arms during the code of conduct, and an investigation is underway.
