Khalistani supporters in Canada have been issuing threats to Indians, with the latest being through a poster depicting the assassination of Indira Gandhi. Canadian MP Chandra Arya, of Indian descent, expressed concern about this development on Saturday and called for action against these supporters. Arya stated that Khalistani supporters are attempting to instill fear of violence among Hindu-Canadians by displaying posters showing bullet holes in Indira Gandhi's body and her Sikh bodyguards-turned-assassins holding guns.
He highlighted the recurrence of a similar fear-inducing tactic in the past, particularly in Vancouver. Describing the situation as a continuing series of threats, Arya emphasized the need for law enforcement in Canada to intervene promptly. He warned that if left unchallenged, these actions could lead to real harm, pointing out the symbolic targeting of Hindu-Canadians through the depiction of Indira Gandhi's bindi.
Arya recalled protests last year celebrating the assassination of Indira Gandhi and recent demonstrations by Khalistan supporters outside the Indian Embassy in Canada, where pro-Khalistan slogans were chanted and Indian-origin journalists were reportedly attacked.
