Panvel : Since the Lok Sabha elections' code of conduct was implemented, many government officials may have found it convenient to delay their actions without interference from public representatives. A significant case of electricity theft in Vavanja village of Panvel taluka has been uncovered by Bharari Pathak from Vashi Maha-distribution Company. According to a complaint filed by Kapil Gathle, Assistant Engineer of the Electricity Department, at Panvel City Police Station.

On Wednesday afternoon, Paresh Patil and his wife reported the theft of electricity units valued at over Rs.30,000. Paresh Patil, a senior official of Shiv Sena Shinde Group Panvel Rural, is at the center of the investigation. Following Mahavitaran Company's complaint, a case has been registered against Paresh Patil and his wife at Panvel City Police Station for electricity theft. The Patil couple reside in Vavanje village and have allegedly been involved in electricity theft for several months.

The complaint states that between October 2022 and April 2024, they unlawfully consumed 30,8223 units of electricity at house no. 1422 in Vavanja village, violating the Indian Electricity Act, 2003. The case has been filed under Penal Code 135. Assistant Engineer Kapil Gathle from Panvel City Police Station lodged the complaint, which was then transferred to Panvel Taluka Police Station for further investigation.

Assistant Police Inspector Rajendra Ghevdekar confirmed that the case is now being processed. Paresh Patil, a former member of Panvel Panchayat Samiti, had the opportunity to serve in the district council through an alliance between Shekap and Shiv Sena. Currently, Shinde Gatchaya, the Shiv Sena rural Panvel officer, is actively promoting the party's role in village campaign meetings. Despite previous incidents of electricity theft, Mahavitaran Company officials identified violations in Vavanja village.
