Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been granted bail by the Delhi High Court in connection with the National Herald case. A single-judge bench of the Supreme Court also pulled up the CBI for keeping Kejriwal in jail for a long time. Kejriwal was released from the Tihar Jail after the court's order.
While granting bail to Kejriwal, the apex court restrained him from entering the Delhi Secretariat and signing any file without the permission of the Lieutenant Governor. On the other hand, Kejriwal's release in the middle of the election battle in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana has given a big relief to the Aam Aadmi Party.
The Supreme Court had earlier granted him bail in the case. Kejriwal was arrested by the CBI in a criminal case. Kejriwal is currently lodged in Tihar jail. The bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ujjwal Bhuyan granted the bail.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and AAP leader Sanjay Singh were also present at the event. He was released on bail a few months ago. Therefore, it was considered certain that Kejriwal would get bail.
Kejriwal was earlier granted interim bail to campaign for the Lok Sabha polls. However, he was released on bail on June 2. He will now be able to campaign for the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana. Kejriwal's exit is being seen as a major boost for the BJP in Haryana.
