After the Lok Sabha elections, CM Nitish Kumar's party is holding its national executive meeting at the Constitutional Club in Delhi. CM Nitish Kumar will preside over the meeting, having arrived in Delhi on Friday afternoon. Central ministers of the party, Bihar government ministers, MPs, MLAs, and over 100 executive members, including the state president, have also reached Delhi.
All preparations for the meeting have been finalized. During the meeting, CM Nitish Kumar will discuss the upcoming assembly elections with his party leaders and may make significant decisions. Some changes could be announced following the meeting. Ahead of the assembly elections, party's national president Nitish Kumar might spring a surprise once again.
According to JDU sources, CM Nitish Kumar, the national president of the party, will meet with national officials at 10.30 am today, followed by the national executive meeting commencing at 11.30 am. CM Nitish Kumar, on a three-day visit to Delhi, is expected to meet with top BJP leadership regarding seat sharing for the assembly elections. JDU reportedly aims to contest an equal number of seats with BJP this time.
This meeting marks the first gathering since the Lok Sabha elections. The previous national executive meeting of JDU was held in December 2023 when Lalan Singh stepped down as national president, and Nitish Kumar was reappointed. JDU garnered 12 Lok Sabha seats in the recent elections, making it the third-largest party in the National Democratic Alliance.
Two JDU MPs are now part of the Modi cabinet, with Lalan Singh and Ramnath Thakur appointed as Union Minister and Union Minister of State, respectively. This marks the first instance since the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government where two leaders from CM Nitish Kumar's party have been included in the Union Cabinet. Previously in 2021, RCP Singh was the sole member to join the cabinet.
