At Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, the Customs department confiscated 32.79 kg of gold from two foreign women on Monday. The seized gold is valued at Rs.19.15 crore. The women, identified as Anzal Kala (27yrs) and Saida Hussain (24yrs) from Kenya, were found with gold hidden in their bags and underwear.
They have been arrested and a case has been filed against them under the Customs Act. The women arrived in Mumbai from Nairobi, with one found carrying 28 bars of 22-carat gold and the other with 70 bars. It is suspected that an international smuggling ring is involved, prompting further investigation by the customs department.
