Since the start of the monsoon season, the number of dengue cases has been on the rise in Pune. Currently, there are 20 suspected dengue patients identified in Sadaanandnagar in Mangalwar Pethe. In response to this situation, the Municipal Health Department has promptly implemented preventive measures in the area.
As of June 21, there have been 20 reported cases of dengue in Sadaanandnagar, with 9 of them confirmed to have dengue infection. The concentration of dengue patients in this locality has prompted immediate action from the municipal health department.
Dr. Suryakant Deokar, Assistant Health Officer of the Municipal Corporation, stated that preventive measures have been put in place due to the high number of dengue cases in Sadaanandnagar. The affected patients have been admitted to Kamala Nehru Hospital, and a health survey is underway in the area to monitor the well-being of residents displaying dengue-like symptoms.
In total, 63 suspected dengue cases have been reported in the city this month, with 21 cases identified just this week. Throughout the year, the city has recorded 393 suspected cases of dengue, along with 9 cases of chikungunya. The Municipal Corporation has issued notices to 560 residential and commercial establishments for mosquito breeding sites, collecting fines amounting to Rs 1,06,600.
Following inspections by the Health Department in Sadaanandnagar, satisfactory tap water quality was observed in households, but contaminated water was found in building tanks. As a result, notices have been served to the responsible parties, and preventive measures have been initiated under the direction of Dr. Suryakant Deokar, Assistant Health Officer of the Municipal Corporation.
