Eid-e-Milad holiday was announced on September 16. However, the Maharashtra government has cancelled the holiday in Mumbai city and Mumbai suburbs. Eid-e-Milad will now be a holiday on September 18 in these two districts. In the rest of the districts, the respective district collectors have been ordered to review and decide on the holiday. Maharashtra state government has announced the decision.

The festival of Anant Chaturdashi is coming on Tuesday, September 18. Due to this, there is a huge rush for immersion in Mumbai and surrounding areas. Earlier in the day, Muslims took out processions on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad. Some Muslim religious leaders had asked the government to declare Wednesday a holiday as the two festivals coincide.

Samajwadi Party MLA Rais Shaikh and Congress MLA Naseem Khan had met Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and demanded that the government holiday for Monday (September 16) be given on September 18, the day after Anant Chaturdashi. Naseem Khan, in his letter to the Chief Minister, said that due to Anant Chaturdashi on September 17, the Muslim community has decided to take out Eid-e-Milad processions on September 18. So that both the communities can celebrate their festivals in peace.

For the second year in a row, the Muslim community has chosen the day after Eid-e-Milad to take out processions. The decision has been taken to ensure that the Hindu and Muslim communities can celebrate their festivals peacefully and not create disturbances.
