The Deputy Governor of Jammu and Kashmir announced that the annual Amarnath Yatra will commence on the eighth day, with enhanced security measures in place. Improvements in facilities have been requested to ensure a successful pilgrimage. Due to escalating terrorist threats in the region, authorities are urging heightened vigilance for the safety of both the Yatra and the pilgrims.
The Additional Director General of Police, Jammu, Anand Jain, has taken charge of security arrangements on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway to prevent any potential terrorist attacks. Deputy Governor Manoj Sinha virtually participated in the inaugural Amarnath worship at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar.
Following the Yatra's commencement on June 29th, provisions will be made for devotees nationwide to view the worship through television. Special arrangements have been coordinated by the Devasthan Samiti and the administration for this purpose.
The journey, which spans 52 days, will follow two routes: the traditional 48 km path from Nunwan-Pahalgam in Anantnag district and the 14 km easier yet steeper route through Ganderbal.
