According to the parents, the police registered an FIR 12 hours after the medical report was received.

Last week, two three-year-old girls were allegedly sexually assaulted at Adarsh School in Badlapur. When the parents came to know about it, they conducted a medical examination. However, the police took 12 hours to register a case and the school administration also ignored the incident, which led to a wave of anger in the city. Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered in connection with the incident. The News India reported.

According to the FIR, the incident took place between 9 am and 12 pm on August 13. The family of one of the two girls grew suspicious on August 13, saying they were going to report the sexual assault after speaking to a family member of the other girl. The girl's parents then decided to take her for a medical examination. The medical report showed that her hymen was breached. The girl was terrified. She told her parents that the grandfather took off her clothes and touched her private parts.
The family had informed the police about the incident on August 16. He, however, alleged that the police registered the FIR 12 hours later, around 9 pm on August 16. According to the FIR, the accused sexually assaulted the girl.

The accused, identified as Akshay Shinde, was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and sections 65 (2) (rape of a girl under 12 years of age), 74 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 75 (offences of sexual harassment) and 76 (accidental or criminal force) of the Indian Penal Code.

Totally collapsed on road
The office-bearers of some political parties and organisations in the city had called for a Badlapur bandh on August 20. Parents protested outside the school in the morning. There were clashes between the protestors and police. Later, the agitators stormed into the school premises and vandalised the classrooms and school materials, demanding immediate arrest of the accused. At the same time, some protesters went to the railway station and squatted on the tracks. Train services were completely disrupted.

Minister Girish Mahajan, Railway Police Commissioner Ravindra Shisve, Thane Police Commissioner Ashutosh Dumbre, local MLAs and people's representatives did not budge despite requests. Finally, the police opened fire. Protestors pelt stones towards police. Some private vehicles were vandalised by the protesters. Eventually, the police managed to disperse the protesters. Police have arrested the protestors. The protesters blocked the main roads and highways of the city. The passengers were trying to reach Badlapur from Ambernath by rickshaw or whatever vehicle they could find. But as the gates of the city were closed, they had to reach home on foot.

Have a safe sibling plan!
Large number of women and youth participated in these processions. The ongoing 'Ladki Bahini' scheme in the state is being promoted on a large scale by the government. However, Badlapurkar displayed a placard demanding 'darling sister scheme' or 'safe sister scheme'.
