Six individuals sustained burn injuries following a fire outbreak at an industrial compound in the Dharavi slum area of Mumbai on Tuesday, as stated by civic officials. The injured individuals were promptly taken to the nearby civic-run Sion hospital. The fire originated in two structures of three and four stories within the Ashok Mill Compound at Kala Qila in the Dharavi area around 3:45 am, according to a civic official.

The individuals, aged between 22 and 28 years, suffered burn injuries, with two of them sustaining 30 to 50 percent burns, and two others with 8 to 10 percent burns, as per a police official. Another individual sustained a minor hand injury and was discharged after treatment. The fire was contained within wooden material, garment stock, furniture, and machinery in the two structures, as reported by a civic official.

More than four hours later, the blaze was extinguished with the help of at least five fire engines, additional firefighting vehicles, and water tankers. A police official suggested the fire might have started from a garment unit involved in producing frocks and other clothing.

City police, civic ward staff, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) personnel, and ambulances arrived at the scene. By 8:10 am, the fire had been extinguished, and cooling operations were in progress, according to a civic official. The cause of the fire remained unknown.
